What's new

Recent improvements, newest first.

  1. Fixes to temporary routes, the week table and Undo

    • A student can no longer be put on two temporary routes of the same run on the same day — end or shorten the first change, then add the new one.
    • In a new ticket's week table, a run with No ride can be ticked and given a route with Different route, so a morning-only student can get an afternoon ride for some days.
    • Ctrl+Z (⌘Z on Mac) only undoes while the Undo message is showing — closing it, or clicking Recalculate times, keeps your change.
    • Undo now works after dragging a student who was on another school's route, and putting a removed student back restores their ride days in one step.
    • Route suggestions check the student's school on every chosen day, and the riding-route list clears old seat counts while it looks up new dates.
    • On Students, the Days column says Every day for students with no ride days set, instead of a dash.
  2. Tables fit the screen; skipped texts say why

    • Tables no longer scroll sideways on a normal screen: long columns like a text's message or a route name shorten with “…” (point at one to read it all) and use the full width when there's room.
    • On Parent Notifications, a Skipped text now says why next to its status — SMS not set up, or Parent replied STOP.
  3. Change a student's week right from a phone-call ticket

    • On New ticket, picking a student now shows their photo, school and address, and a table of their next 7 days: each run's route, time, driver and pickup address, plus no school, early dismissals, temporary changes and absences.
    • Tick days or runs (or Today, Tomorrow, Rest of week) and choose Not riding, Different route, Different address or Different time. The table previews the old and new ride before you save.
    • Creating the ticket makes those changes, lists them on the ticket and marks it solved — or leaves it open with whatever couldn't be done.
    • A student can now be off (or moved from) their morning and afternoon routes on the same days with two temporary changes.
  4. A cleaner route map page and a Students list that fits

    • A route's map page now opens with its run, status, driver and vehicle under the name, and a summary row: stops done, start and finish, duration, no-shows, skipped and GPS points.
    • The map has a legend for the school, stops, done and missed stops and the lines drawn, with the GPS trail switch and Trip history beside it. Notes about missing coordinates or GPS sit in one strip under the map.
    • The Students list fits the screen without scrolling sideways: ride days read as ranges like Sun–Thu, extra schools show as +1 (hover to see them), and flags wrap.
    • Long drop-downs — students, drivers, vehicles, schools, routes — now let you type straight into the field to narrow the list, then click a match or press Enter. Esc or clicking away keeps the current choice.
  5. Geotab trip history and richer vehicle markers

    • Page hints now sit in one slim line with the top suggestion's button (one click to do it, × to hide), and long lists like Students fit the screen without double scrolling.
    • Vehicles tracked by Geotab now show on the Live Board with their speed in mph, which way they're heading, and a dot for moving, idling or stopped. Click one for when it last reported, ignition on or off, its exact position and Trip history.
    • A linked vehicle's page has a Live location map and a Trip history button. Trip history shows every trip for a day — times, distance, driving and idle time, top and average speed — and every stop in between, named when it's at a school or a student's stop.
    • The trip map colours the road driven by speed, numbers the stops, highlights a trip when you click it, and has a slider to see where the vehicle was at any time.
    • On a route's map, switch the GPS trail between Driver app GPS and Vehicle GPS (Geotab).
  6. Quick undo, route suggestions for reassignments, and clearer recalculations

    • On a school's page, moving or reordering a student, removing one from a route, or renaming or retiming a route now shows Undo — click it or press Ctrl+Z (⌘Z on Mac) to put things back. Removing a student no longer asks first.
    • Suggestions now keep checking on their own every 15 minutes, so new ones and the sidebar count appear without opening the Suggestions page.
    • Recalculating stop times now says what it's doing, then how many times changed and by how much. See changes lists each student's old and new time and what the times were based on.
    • In a temporary reassignment, the riding route list now shows the seats free on each route for the chosen dates. Up to three suggested routes for the trip are listed under it: same school, a stop near the pickup, the same time, and room every day.
  7. Lifting a closure brings days back as they were

    • Removing or moving a closure now brings back the day routes it took off exactly as they were — a driver swap, vehicle, price, note or stop time you changed for that day is kept. Days someone cancelled by hand stay cancelled.
    • A delayed start now moves the morning run of students dropped off at that school, even when they're picked up from a different school in the afternoon.
    • If a calendar save can't update some day routes already built, the message now says so and how many, so you can check them on Routes.
  8. Drivers ask for cover on one route

    • Drivers can tap Request cover on any route in Upcoming or Time off, say why, and send it — the office finds a replacement for just that run.
    • The office sees these under Routes needing cover on the Days Off Requests page, with free drivers listed first: pick one and click Assign cover, or Decline. The driver is notified either way.
    • Driver availability is now set by the office on each driver's page (Availability). Drivers see it read-only and can no longer change it themselves.
  9. A much better live map

    • The Live Board map is bigger, with a route list beside it, filters (Running, Needs attention, Not started), and Full screen.
    • Each route has its own colour, numbered stops coloured by outcome, a dashed line in stop order and its school. Drivers show their direction and a 20-minute trail.
    • Click a driver or a stop for its details — progress, next stop, how fresh the location is, Call, Route map and Directions. Focus one route and tick Follow driver to keep them in view.
    • A Legend and ⓘ icons explain every colour and number on the map.
  10. See students live: on board, dropped off, no-shows

    • The Routes list shows every student on each route as a coloured chip — waiting, driver there, on board, dropped off or no-show — with a progress bar, the driver's phone, and a red No-shows box with parent phones. Today's list refreshes by itself, and search finds students by name.
    • A school's page now starts with Driving now: who is driving that school's students right now, with their phone, vehicle and last location, and each student's status.
    • School offices have a new Live page showing only their own students' routes as they run — the driver and their phone, and each student's status.
  11. Geotab vehicle tracking

    • Company admins can connect Geotab under Company Settings → Integrations. Vehicles and Geotab devices then stay in sync both ways — name, VIN and license plate — every 15 minutes or with Sync now.
    • Devices are linked to vehicles automatically by VIN, plate or name, and you can pick a vehicle's Geotab device yourself from the Vehicles page. A link you pick is never changed automatically.
    • The Live Board shows a linked vehicle's Geotab position; vehicles that aren't linked keep using the driver app's GPS. Hover the Geotab chip on a vehicle to see its last sync and GPS fix.
    • Vehicles now have a VIN field.
  12. New route from a school's page, and drivers cancel requests

    • A school's page now has a New route button next to Edit routes. It opens the Route Planner with the new route form ready and that school already picked.
    • Drivers can no longer mark their own request tickets solved. They can cancel a request instead, and the office sees it as Cancelled.
  13. A different route on some days

    • A student can ride one weekly route most days and another on the day their pickup is different: in the Route Planner, click the days button next to their pickup time and pick the days that route covers. Those days come off their other route automatically.
    • A red days button warns when a student is on two routes in the same direction on the same day.
    • The student form's schedule shows a Weekly route column with the route for each day.
    • Students now have one pickup time per day instead of a from–to range.
  14. Part-week riders and app notifications

    • Routes go by each student's ride days: a student who rides once a week on a daily route is listed under Not riding today on the other days, with an ⓘ chip showing the days they ride.
    • School pages and the school office's All Routes show the same chip next to students who ride only some of a route's days.
    • In the Android app, alerts now show under the app's own name and icon instead of Chrome. Update the app when the Update bar appears.
  15. Tidier route areas and school routes

    • Route Planner: Pop out an open route card to edit it in a large window.
    • Route area cards are cleaner: schools and the missing-geofence warning sit on one line, and the counts read at a glance.
    • A school's page can now show its routes as a List, Boxes or a Table — the same switcher school offices have on All routes.
    • On a school's page, drag a student to change the pickup order or onto another route to move them — it saves right away, with Recalculate times one click away.
    • Edit routes on a school's page opens the Route Planner already filtered to that school.
    • Search finds a student by full name in any order and any case — "aron schwartz" or "Schwartz Aron".
    • The Help (?) menu has a search box: type to find a guide, or press Enter to search the whole help center.
    • Email notifications are now off until you turn them on in Settings, event by event. Password-change alerts always send.
    • A student's page shows their week — morning and afternoon, Sunday to Friday — with what happened each day, what's planned, and school closures. Prev and Next move between weeks.
  16. Records pages: what to do next

    • Payments shows the pay period ready to approve with its total, flags anyone whose hours or pay is well above their usual, and approves every normal record in one click.
    • Attendance spots drivers who never clocked out and sets the clock-out from their last stop or GPS fix in one click.
    • Each pending days-off request gets a verdict — "Safe to approve — Mendel covers all 3 days" or "Risky — no one free Tue" — and Approve & cover does both at once when it's safe.
    • Temporary changes ending tomorrow can be extended a week in one click, and changes that keep coming back suggest making them permanent.
    • Students point out records with no parent phone, no ride days or no map location, and new students with no route; a student's page offers a ride day their sibling has and flags a missing emergency contact.
    • Vehicles that failed their pre-trip twice this week can be sent to maintenance in one click, and vehicles unused for a month are pointed out.
    • Drivers with no availability, no vehicle, or no app login for two weeks are flagged, with a free vehicle or a fresh invite one click away.
  17. Hints where you work

    • The school calendar warns when a yom tov is coming that some schools haven't closed, and adds the closures in one click; if schools dismissed early on Erev Yom Tov last year, it offers to add the next one at each school's usual time.
    • The Schools pages point out a weekday with no dismissal time, students with no route area and schools with no director account.
    • Every report opens with Insights — a few sentences on what changed since the period before, like on-time dropping on Tuesdays and the route behind it, or no-shows coming from a few students.
    • In Chat, a message saying a student is sick, not coming, running late or has a new address shows quick replies and a link to mark them absent or open an address ticket.
    • Notifications opens with a digest of what's unread — "4 day-off requests, 2 tickets, 1 late route" — with Handle all links and Mark all read.
    • School offices see tomorrow's calendar change and how many of their routes were re-timed, requests waiting on the office, and students who keep missing the same weekday — with a one-click request to tell the office.
  18. Routes: hints for what to do next

    • While you drag a student in the Route Planner, every route card shows how well they fit: Best fit with the extra miles and seats left, Full, or Different school.
    • After a move changes the stop order, the planner says which route's stop times look out of date and recalculates them in one click.
    • A route close to the 1-hour limit gets a suggested move — "North is 58 min — move Chaya to South to bring it to 44 min" — applied in one click.
    • Looking at today or tomorrow on the Routes page lists yesterday's no-shows, each with Mark absent.
    • When the last route of the day is done, the Routes page and Live Board wrap up the day — on-time %, late routes, no-shows, open tickets — with pay to approve and tomorrow's uncovered drivers.
    • The Live Board spots a driver who finished near a route that's running behind and suggests asking them to take its last stops.
  19. Drivers: a Next step card

    • The top of the driver's Today screen now shows the one thing to do next: the pre-trip check before the first route, a leave-by time from where the phone is, or the next route and how long until it starts.
    • On the road it nudges at the right moment — waiting 3 minutes at a stop (mark no-show or call the parent) or running behind (text the waiting families in one tap).
    • After the last route it offers to clock out in one tap, and it reminds drivers of a shift they forgot to clock out of, tomorrow's early dismissals and an approved day off.
    • It keeps working without signal and says how many taps are waiting to sync, with a button to try again.
  20. The app reads your mind

    • Open search (⌘K) without typing and Suggested for you offers what fits the moment: the next step on the student or driver you're looking at, tickets and days-off requests waiting, the Live Board before the runs or tomorrow's routes after dismissal, and the pages you use most.
    • Type plain phrases in search — "new student", "sarah out tomorrow", "move sarah to williamsburg", "who drives north route" — and jump straight to the right page.
    • Adding or editing a student spots a brother or sister by address, phone or email and offers to copy the parents and contacts and use the same school; it also suggests the route area and the best route with a seat.
    • A student's page offers to add them to their sibling's routes in one click.
    • Every ticket opens with Suggested handling: its type, a suggested priority, possible duplicates, the rides an absence cancels or the address plan to apply in one click, and a drafted reply you can insert and edit.
    • The ticket queue shows each ticket's type, a suggested priority and possible duplicates.
  21. What's next

    • After you approve days off, add a driver, vehicle, school, user, route area or weekly route, or change the school calendar, a card suggests the next one to three steps — with real names and numbers.
    • Many steps take one click: cover a route with a free driver, assign the best free vehicle, give a new driver a route with no driver, add the nearest unrouted students to a new route, or notify the drivers a calendar change affects.
    • New schools get a one-click option to mark the upcoming yom tov days closed.
    • A Pick up where you left off list gathers your unfinished work: tickets waiting on your reply, days-off requests to decide and students you added who have no route yet.
  22. See problems before they happen

    • The Dashboard opens with one line about what matters right now — routes about to start and whether their drivers checked in, the next dismissal, or how tomorrow looks.
    • Tomorrow at a glance lists what will go wrong on the next school day (or the whole week): drivers off with no cover, routes with no driver or too many riders, routes that are usually late that weekday, vehicles that failed a pre-trip, regular drivers with no route, likely absences and calendar changes — each with its fix, often one click.
    • The Live Board predicts when running routes will finish and flags a route that will be late to school before it is, plus drivers sitting idle or off their way.
    • For a late route, draft a parent heads-up with each family's new time, ready to copy.
  23. Calendar changes reach routes already built

    • Closures, early dismissals, delayed starts and new school times now also update the day routes already built that haven't started, and the save message says how many.
    • Removing a closure or event puts those days back the way they were.
    • An early dismissal moves only afternoon pickups, and a delayed start only morning pickups.
    • Changing a school's default dismissal or arrival time moves its riders' weekly-route stop times by the same amount.
  24. Smart suggestions

    • A new Suggestions page lists ideas the app finds: routes to merge, better stop orders, vehicle sizes, students with no route, driver workload, cover for days off, late pickups and more.
    • Each suggestion explains why, with the numbers, and nothing changes until you click its action.
    • Students no route can take are grouped by school and neighborhood into a suggested new route — with a stop order, distance and a free driver — that you can create in one click.
    • Snooze a suggestion for a week or dismiss it for good, and restore it later.
    • The Dashboard and student, driver and vehicle pages show the suggestions that concern them.
  25. Forms that show the impact before you save

    • Forms now check as you type: duplicate people, vehicles and schools, routes over capacity, driver clashes and days off.
    • School times, calendar events and closures show which routes and students they change, with old and new pickup times.
    • Days-off requests and substitutions list each affected route-day and who is free to cover it.
    • Temporary reassignments show the driver and seats left for every date.
    • All maps, including drawing route areas and parent tracking, now use Google Maps.
  26. Smoother updates

    • A page left open during an update now reloads onto the new version instead of showing an error.
    • A cleaner, more consistent look across the app, with a Help menu in the top bar.
  27. Route map replay

    • One map for the whole trip, with the GPS trail and a time slider.
    • Click a stop to see where the vehicle was at that moment.
    • Arrived taps made far from the stop are flagged for review.
    • A summary of each completed route.
  28. Simpler daily flow

    • One attention list for everything that needs action today.
    • Mark a driver out and cover their routes in a single step.
    • Clearer difference between today's routes and the weekly plan.
    • A lighter summary card at the top of the driver's Today screen.
  29. Clearer times

    • Every time field has explicit AM / PM buttons.
    • A route's own pickup time now wins over the school's dismissal time; stops note the official dismissal.
    • You're warned before deactivating a driver.
  30. Weekly routes that stay in sync

    • Edits to a weekly route now reach days that were already built.
    • Routes with no students show up, in red, so they aren't missed.
    • Routes say when they aren't in any driver's app, and saves confirm what changed.
    • Deactivated students are taken off their routes.
  31. Tickets you can finish in one place

    • Address changes are approved and applied from inside the ticket, with suggested route changes.
    • Ticket statuses can be edited to match how your office works.
  32. Temporary changes and chat

    • Temp Changes lists students not moved yet and shows route status per temporary address.
    • Staff can message each other directly in Chat.
    • Undo in the Route Planner right after saving no longer asks to discard changes.
  33. Routes build themselves

    • Every weekly route is built automatically; students with no ride days ride whenever their route runs.
    • Click a route on the Routes page to see its stops in a popup.
    • One date picker everywhere, and quieter stale-data alerts.
  34. Faster sidebar

    • Search the menu (press /), star favorite pages, and collapse sections you don't use.
    • Dispatchers can log in as school staff to see exactly what they see.
  35. Ticket followers and tags

    • Follow a ticket to get its updates, and tag tickets to group them.
    • Assignees and requesters are notified about priority changes and replies.
    • Drivers can report a problem from their phone too.
